三田のミシュラン2つ星の「桃の木」出身シェフが、和食の要素を取り入れた中華料理店を2014年にオープンさせた。
日本人が作る日本人のための中華料理がコンセプトで、テーブル席とカウンター4席のコンパクトなつくりの店内からは、中華というよりも和の雰囲気が感じられる。
多くのお店が軒を連ねる杉大門通りの外苑東通り出口のロケーションにあるが、6/8からは同じ荒木町内に移転することに。
夜のメニューはおまかせで、9000円、12000円、15000円の3コースとなっており、9000円で。
雰囲気の良いお店では、なぜかエビスビールを飲みたくなり、量の丁度いい小瓶で喉を潤す。
スタートは三段前菜からで、鮮やかな見た目もさることながら、まるで白子のような焼き胡麻豆腐を始め、出汁巻玉子、よだれ鶏など、いずれもクオリティが高い。
たっぷりの唐辛子に包まれた稚鮎の素揚げ、コクのある海老味噌がアクセントの帆立と海老炒め、味噌が濃厚なボタン海老の老酒漬け。どれも前菜からの期待を裏切らない美味しさで、紹興酒のペースも上がる。
箸休み的に出されるミントティーのレベルも高く、細部に至るまで手抜きがない丁寧な仕事ぶりが光る。
土鍋ご飯とともに頂く、鯛のふっくら煮もメインに相応しく、さすが「桃の木」出身と唸らせる出来栄えで、盛られている和食器の美しさも花を添えている。
既に現在の場所での営業は終えているが、移転後にすぐにでも再訪したくなる気持ちになったのが、このお店の評価の全て。
