I visited a restaurant “Sion” in Nishi-Motomachi, which is opened by the chef of the former Oriental Hotel Kobe known as the origin of Kobe Western food, and its owner is the son of former Hanshin Tigers player ICHIEDA Shuhei. I arrived 20 minutes before opening and was the first one there. Then there was a huge queue when it opened. This restaurant’s specialty is curry. It's a classic European-style one that inherits the flavor of the one from the hotel. Anyway, I ordered the Curry (@¥1,500) with its toppings; 90g hamburger steak (@¥350) and egg (@¥100). To get straight to the conclusion... amazing! Although I've tried a lot of different curries, this’s the best I've ever had. It has excellent mellowness, just spiciness and rich flavor. The hamburger steak is used 100% of Black Wagyu Beef, so is very meaty. And it’s so well balanced with the curry. It also offers hamburger steak and beef stew, so I’d like to try those. The owner and staff were wonderful and greet u with their lovely smile. Bcoz it was amazing, I also bought some instant curry (@¥500/piece). Of course,I shall visit here again.
神戸西元町にある『SION』さん。
神戸洋食の源流、旧オリエンタルホテルの料理人達が開いたお店で、オーナーシェフは元阪神タイガースの解説者としても知られる一枝修平氏の御子息。
開店20分前に到着して一番乗り。
そんな早く来なくてもよかったかなと思ってたら、どんどんと人の数が増え大行列。
こちら洋食屋なんですが、カレーが名物。
それも旧オリエンタルホテルのカレーの味を継承してる欧風カレーの王道です。
というわけで、『ビーフカレー』(1,500円)にハンバーグ90g(350円)と玉子(100円)をトッピング。
先に結論言います…マジで美味い!
いろいろカレーを食べ歩いてきたけど、自分史上一番美味い。
まろやかさ、程よいスパイシーさ、そして豊潤なコクが絶品過ぎる。
この辺りはやはりホテル発祥のカレーやなぁと感じます。
トッピングのハンバーグは黒毛和牛100%なので、ミーティー。
でもそれが主張しすぎずカレーとのバランスも素晴らしい。
他にはハンバーグやビーフシチュー等のメニューもあり、こちらもそそられます。
オーナーの一枝さんはじめ、スタッフの皆さん素敵な笑顔で接客されており、好感度◎。
長年通われてる常連客も多いのも納得。
美味しすぎてお土産のレトルトカレー(1個500円)も購入。
勿論リピ確定です♪
