伊豆半島下田というと金目鯛に伊勢海老。
しかしながら、
この下田に、なんと!
百名店にピックアップされている鰻屋があるではないか!
食べログの記事を拝見すると確かに好評価です。
①下田にいないと予約ができない
②土用の丑は定休日。
③どうやら、蒲焼き・うな重は一種類のみ。
なんとも一途な考えに徹する店主のようです。
平賀源内のキャッチコピーのお陰で夏場に賑わう、
しかも”例”の日に蒲焼き求めて賑わうというのは、
或る時代には必要な事であったのでしょうが、
現代に至っては、すでに時代錯誤でもあります。
「土用の丑」はもういいんじゃないですか...?
と私も言いたいです。

スーパービュー踊り子号にて下田に着いたので、
電話しますが出ません。
昼時なので忙しいのかな?
などと考えながら昼飯偵察に行きます。
おっ、あった!
以前寄ったことのある「いず松陰」*の側です。
暖簾をくぐり引き戸を開け店内へ。
一階は四人掛けテーブル三組と小上がりに座卓。
というこぢんまりとした雰囲気です。
これから入れるかどうかを確認すると満席で✕
明日はどうか確認。
11時半から13時半は満席、11時からならOK!
10時50分頃から入るよう丁寧に言い渡されます(^^)
奥下田随一の温泉**にたっぷりと浸かり、
身も心も浄化された身体をもって10時50分入店。

『白焼き』と『鰻重』を頼んでありました。
白焼きの保温箱の蓋に「野田岩」の文字が入っています...
先代、現店主ともに野田岩で修行されたそうです。
「白焼き」は柔らか過ぎるくらいのフカフカ。
少々食べにくい状態でした。
これについては関西風の”焼き”が個人的には好きです。
『うな重』が来ました。
...美味い♪
山椒の効きも良い!
タレの味も素晴らしいのです!
この蒲焼きのタレは、
鰻の脂に見事なくらいに調和し、その美味しさを味わえます。
<今年いただいた鰻重のなかで、タレはダントツに美味でした>
