前回の鰻三楽コースに味を占めて二度目の訪問。コースの鰻重(萩)はチト物足りなかったので、今回は鰻重のフラグシップ、うなぎ1.5匹分の「玉手」をメインディッシュで頂くことに。
まずは珍しいクラフトビール「山椒エール」で喉を潤す。ホップの代わりに一部、岩手県一関産の山椒を使用したスパイシーで柑橘系の爽やかなビール。おつまみに注文したのは「鰻の燻製」と「どじょうの柳川(小)」
泥鰌は私の大好物で、20年くらい前、浅草近辺の駒形どぜう、飯田屋、ひら井で「どぜう鍋」を良く頂いて以来。鰻も泥鰌も同じニョロ系。野田岩さんのはどんなやろ…はさておき。
フルーティで意外にあっさり目の山椒エール。おつまみが届く前になくなってしまったので(苦笑)、日本酒「菊正宗しぼりたて純米大吟醸」にスイッチ…のタイミングで燻製が目の前に。程よい脂と燻製の香り。鰻の旨味が凝縮された逸品。たっぷりの薄切りキュウリで頂くと爽やかな味がお口いっぱいに…
程なくして柳川(小)が供される。直径15cmくらいのミニ土鍋。でも思いのほかボリューミーで、ざっと数えて10匹くらいの泥鰌。辛めの下地と綴じ卵やゴボウ、山椒との相性バッチリ。骨無し開き、ヤワヤワのコイツをつまみながら日本酒をチビチビ呑んでいると、宝船が描かれた玉手箱…お重が目の前に。
さっそくフタを開ける。思ったほど鰻が溢れていない…と思いきや、重箱のサイズが他のよりも大きめ。実際、かなりのボリュームで、見た目に惑わされた自分に反省しつつ、3切れ1匹半のウナギと格闘すること5〜6分。やっとの思いで鰻重を完食!
それにしても、通えば通うほど新たな出会いがあってワクワクしますね。次回のおつまみは何にしようかな…と言うことで、また来ます。どうもご馳走様でした!
(帰り際、出口に5代目の金本兼次郎さんが座られていてビックリ(笑))
