This is Menya Seiryu located near Kindai University. I came here to get the Sanma mizu tsukemen (dipping noodles in water with saury). The seats are numbered so that you know when you are waiting for your turn. You buy a ticket from the ticket machine and wait. There were about 6 people waiting in the restaurant, but we were led to our seats after about 15 minutes of waiting.
By the way, the ticket machine does not accept bills other than 1,000 yen bills, but they will exchange them for you, so feel free to ask the staff for help.
My first bowl of saury water tsukemen made a strange impression on me. The noodles were soaked in water that tasted of saury, but there was no smell, rather it was refreshing. You can enjoy it easily without dipping it in the dipping sauce. In contrast, the dipping broth is a thick chicken white soup. Inside are two kinds of chashu pork, bamboo shoots, and a boiled egg as a topping. The noodles soaked in the menma water and the chicken shiroutyu soup are a perfect match The combination of the two is unexpected and goes well together. Seriously unexpected. Finally, you can add the saury water to the dipping sauce to make a soup topping, which is also wonderfully balanced. You can also reheat the soup if you wish. It was the first tsukemen I have been impressed with in a long time. Thank you very much for the food .
⚠️ There is no private parking lot, but there are several coin-operated parking lots nearby. Also, because of the close proximity to the modern era, there are many pedestrians, including students, so be careful if you are driving there. There are also many narrow streets. Be careful on the way back to the central ring road as it is even narrower. ⚠️
