Limoges is a cute, happy little French establishment strangely sitting alone amongst rice fields next to Toyama airport. Curious choice as to its location. I found out later that this has been its location for the past 20 years, while 10 years before, it used to be in the city, Inside, it is bright, with elegant ambient music playing in the background. Signed autograph from numerous celebrities line the shelf tops. Impressive. The mistress of the establishment took us to a private room. She proved not only knowledgeable about food, but also a great conversationalists who warmed up to us throughout the evening, talking about everything!
Everything we ate was bursting with flavor. The ingredients were fresh and of choice quality. The sauces were rich and powerful. No dish was left without having made an impact. Bravo! Here is what we ate.
APPETIZER Raw Scallops on top of Beet Juice Jelly Crab cakes - Incredibly light and fluffy, yet the crab flavor was still powerful! Two Escargots on Shiitake Mushroom - I love escargot, but the best part was the sauce!
SOUP Cream of Chestnut sweetened with Onion and Sweet Potato with Consomme Jelly on the bottom and Crushed Almond on top
FISH COURSE Lobster and Abalone served in Thick Lobster-Bisque sauce with Cauliflower and Broccoli - Best dish of the night! Like inhaling liquid butter! The lobster, abalone, cauliflower and broccoli were all top-notch quality, but that sauce was to die for! Make sure you have enough baguettes to clean this one up!
MEAT COURSE A-Grade steak and Foie Gras on a Himalayan Salt Stone, served with Potato Puree and Beef Jus (4 Days of Absorbed Flavor), and Asparagus, Baby Corn and Mushroom
DESSERT Caramel Ice Cream - I swear this was richer than fresh caramel! Strawberry Mousse Creme Brulee
