へぎそば、ざるそば、天ぷらのみを提供する人気店。
太陽の塔で知られる芸術家の岡本太郎が愛した蕎麦屋としても有名です。
日曜日の夕方16時に到着、この時間帯でも混んでいました。
店内は、テーブル席とお座敷があり、和の趣を重視した雰囲気。
窓側からは、のどかな田園風景を望めます。

先に薬味と赤かぶの漬物。
珍しいと思ったのが、カラシとアサツキです。
ワサビは希望すれば持って来てくれます。
由屋では、片木(へぎ)と呼ばれる長方形の器に盛り付けられた蕎麦をへぎそば。
ざるの器はざるそば。
厳密に呼び方を分けられていますが、器の違いだけで、そば自体は同様のものなので安心してください。
へぎそばは、独特の弾力とのど越しが最高です。
つゆは、鰹節を使うお店が多い中、こちらのお店では煮干しを使い、香ばしい風味と甘みがあってさっぱりとしています。
また、この地方ではワサビが取れなかったことから、昔からカラシを使うのが一般的なようです。
普通お蕎麦はワサビだと思いますが、意外とカラシでも相性が良くて新鮮でした。
いい意味で先入観を裏切られ、終始ワサビは使いませんでした。
卓上の抹茶塩、七味、ゆず七味、ごまで多彩な味の変化も楽しみ、〆の蕎麦湯も美味しかったです。
