The entrance has a double structure.
When you enter, the bartender comes out from the back and guides you to a space further back, separated by a curtain.
This back space is pitch black. In this age of widespread electricity, it's rare to experience darkness this deep.
My first drink was a gin and tonic. My iPhone has a night mode feature, so the photo is bright, but it's still pitch black to the naked eye.
The bartender asked if I wanted to take a photo, and brought out a penlight to shine on the bar, but I felt like keeping photography to a minimum and enjoying the darkness to the fullest.
Behind the gin and tonic was a bottle from 1961. It's amazing that it was 64 years ago.
My second drink was a martini.
I chatted briefly with the bartender. He brought in real rocks and stuck them on the wall. Perhaps because it was so dark, people thought we were in a basement, but after leaving, they tried to climb the stairs. (This is the second floor.)
The idea of darkness is brilliant. This is a bar you'll want to brag about.
Of course, they sell alcohol, but they also sell the experience of darkness. Drinking in the pitch black makes you feel like you've traveled back in time to the Middle Ages.
We had two drinks for two, and it cost about 8,000 yen. It's a shame that my memory is so fragmented, even though we'd gone to such a wonderful bar. I'll come again.
Later, I opened my wallet and suddenly noticed something. Huh? There were new bills inside. Maybe Mr. Caruso always gives out new bills as change. That's impressive attention to detail.

食べログ百名店2022を獲得しています。
2軒目訪問のため、記憶が曖昧です。酒ェ。
入口は二重構造になっています。
店内に入ると奥からバーテンダーさんが出てきて、カーテンで仕切られた更に先のスペースに案内してくれます。
この奥のスペースがもう真っ暗。
電気が普及した現代、ここまでの暗闇はなかなか経験することが無いんではないかな。
1杯目はジントニック。
iPhoneにはナイトモード撮影機能があるので、明るい写真となっていますが肉眼だと真っ暗です。
お写真撮られますか？とバーテンダーさんがペンライトを持ってきて照らしてくれましたが、この店では撮影は最小限にしてこの暗闇を存分に楽しみたい。そう感じました。
ジントニックの後ろに1961年のボトルが。今から64年前、凄いなあ。

バーテンダーさんと少し会話。
本物の石を運んできて壁に貼り付けた。
暗いから地下だと錯覚するのか、みなさん退店した後に階段を登ろうとする。(ココは2階です)
この暗闇というアイデアは秀逸ですね。人に自慢したくなるお店です。
お酒を売るのはもちろんなのですが、ココは暗闇という体験を売っています。

2人で2杯ずつ飲んで8,000円かな？せっかく素晴らしいお店に来たというのに記憶が断片的なのが非常に惜しいです。また来よう。
後日、財布を開いてふと気がつく。あれ？新札が入っている。
もしかしたらCarusoさん、お釣りを新札で渡すようにしているのかもしれません。細かい気配り、流石です。
