大人4人と子供1人でニンニクボッサムの大をチョイス。ボッサムは臭み消しのための生姜や玉ねぎと一緒に茹でた豚バラ肉を薄くスライスした料理。韓国では焼酎のおつまみとして定番のメニュー。茹で豚におろしニンニクがたっぷり乗っていて、いかにもスタミナがつきそうだ。子供用分として一部はニンニク抜きにしてもらった。
ボッサムは元々「包む」という意味の韓国語で、名前の通り豚肉をキムチや調味料と一緒に野菜で包んで食べる。浅漬けの白菜キムチと大根のキムチが付いてくるのが伝統的な食べ方で、塩味が足りない場合はアミ(小エビ)の塩辛やサムジャン(辛味噌)を付けて味を調整する。
豚肉に生カキを乗せて食べるのこともよくあるそうで、メニューに生カキとのセットもある。ガンギエイの刺身を壷に入れて常温発酵させたホンオフェ(홍어회)というものが朝鮮半島南部の伝統料理としてあり、こちらではエイとボッサムとのセットもある。シュールストレミング(フィンランドの缶詰)に次ぐ世界で二番目に臭い料理と言われているそうだ。
