川崎の牛タンと言えば西の「杉作」さんと東の「八たん」さん。
牛タンの美味しさは両店とも申し分ないが、杉作さんが牛タン食堂という感じで昼夜営業されている一方で八たんさんは牛タン割烹という感じで夜だけ営業されている。夜にお酒を飲みながら牛タンを食べたいなら俄然八たんさんがお勧め。
「蕎麦前」ならぬ「たん前」といった感じで、タン煮込や茹でタンをつまみながら、日本各地の銘酒が楽しめる。メニュー記載外の地酒や焼酎が色々あるので、イケメン三代目の若大将にお勧めを尋ねるのが良い。
一通りお酒を楽しんだ後は定番にして王道の牛タン焼き+麦ご飯+とろろ+テールスープで〆る。
二代目女将が焼く肉厚な牛タンは香ばしく柔らかく絶品。仙台まで行かなくても川崎でこの牛タンが食べられることは僥倖としか言いようがない。
女将と若大将の親子お二人の笑顔でのもてなしも素晴らしく、このお店がある川崎に勤めていて良かったと嬉しくなる。
