上野広小路エリアにポツリと残る草履屋跡で、味噌と酒の奥深さに触れる。こちらは酒に合う料理と、豊富な種類の味噌が売りの居酒屋さん。宮大工が建てた日本家屋で、老舗の長谷川履物店を改装したという趣深い佇まい。漆喰のカウンターもいい雰囲気。

当日おまかせは、店自慢の味噌にはじまり、新鮮な野菜や魚介類、そしてジビエをたのしめる。それぞれが持つ素材の味は、こだわりの調理法や味噌によって最大限引き出されている。
コイワシの酢〆は小骨が取り除かれ、下拵えに余念がない。同様に手間暇かけた ふぐ白子の味噌漬や出汁のしみた和牛小鍋、そして かに汁も濃厚。
このなかで1番のおすすめは、ホタテの西京焼。味噌の焼ける香ばしい匂いとホタテの凝縮された旨み(甘み)は非常に忘れがたい。
